Palmestranden (The Palmbeach)

Palmestranden is Frederikshavn's urban and child-friendly beach with many activities and an almost exotic atmosphere. Here you can relax in the shade of the palm trees.

In Frederikshavn you can visit Denmark's only Palm Beach and yes, you read that right - there are palm trees, they are real and there are many of them. They overwinter in warmer surroundings, in huge greenhouses to be precise, but every year in May they return to the beach and sweeten life for the many people who want to relax with white sand, clean bathing water with small gentle waves and sunbathing under the swaying palm trees.

The beach is for both activity and relaxation

If you're looking for action, the beach volleyball courts invite you to have a quick game for points. You can always put a delicious ice cream cone from Palmestrandens Ishus up for grabs - they're really worth fighting for. The kids can visit the playground ‘Junglen’ (The Jungle), located right next to Palmestrand. Junglen is a unique playground where children can climb, slide and explore both the play area and the surrounding nature. If you prefer to relax under the shade of the palm trees, there are many cosy corners on the wide sandy beach where the youngest members of the family can spend hours building sandcastles and finding the most beautiful stones and shells. If you need to step off on behalf of nature, there are good toilet facilities next to the ice house.

Lifeguards look after you

Every year when the holiday season really kicks off, the red lifeguard tower goes up, the flags are raised and the lifeguards get ready to keep a watchful eye on the beach's happy guests. The lifeguard tower is sponsored by Trygfonden, and the beach users are very happy for the extra security.

You can look forward to a visit to Palmestranden!
