Taste of Læsø
The taste of Læsø
Here is a selection of the many authentic flavors that await you on Læsø.

Angling on Læsø
Læsø promises great opportunities for angling, and on the island's long coastline there are plenty of places to cast your line, such as Danzigmand, Horneks Odde, Banstenen and Hvidebakker. The piers at Vesterø and Østerby Harbor are also great spots - and if you're ready for a trip into the sea, try underwater fishing. The waters around Læsø are fascinating and beautiful - and it's not unusual to meet a seal on your way.

Roadside stalls with fruit and vegetables
The small, winding country roads of Læsø are full of cozy roadside stalls selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, organic eggs and mushrooms.

Quality meat from Læsø Slagteren
When you buy meat, it has to be quality, and that's what you get at Læsø Slagteren. Here you get cuts from limousine cattle grazing in the salt meadow, where the mineral-rich plants have an incredible effect on the meat. At Læsø Slagteren, the skilled staff will guide you through the selection. If you need something delicious to take on the go, there are also sandwiches and salads.

Sanction time
Læsø's nature is teeming with edible treasures - both on land and sea. Edible mushrooms grow in the forest (especially in the fall) and you'll also find a wealth of berries. If you head for the coast, you'll find a wealth of swells, sea kale and sea cucumber - all perfect for your summer salad. We also recommend you don a pair of waders because in the colder months there are oysters and mussels in the shallow waters along the coast.

Cheers to Østerby Bryghus
For something extra special, try a beer from Østerby Bryghus. All recipes are made and tested here on the island, brewed on the mainland and then returned to Læsø - the only place in the country that sells these delicious beers. Taste them at the island's restaurants and cafés, and buy them at selected fishmongers, at Huset Palsgaard and in Læsøshoppen.

Summer sweet elderflower wine
For the best start to summer, try Læsø's own elderflower wine - perfect for dessert or as a welcome drink. It can be purchased at Inken on Kongevejen 29, Vesterø.

Norway lobster and other seafood
Norway lobster is highly sought after - and in the waters around Læsø it is alive and well. Many of the island's eateries serve the delicacy. For example, swing by the restaurant at Hotel Nygaard where the seafood platter beckons. You can also buy fish to take home from Thorsen Fisk and Mortens Fiskehandel.

The harvest that never fails
You can't visit Læsø without tasting the superfood of the future: seaweed. And we're not talking about the smelly kind at the water's edge. Seaweed is harvested from the sea and can be used in everything from soups to salads - and as an ingredient in pesto, flour, bread, mustard and much more. A great tip is to visit Læsø Tang's farm shop with local seaweed delicacies, where you can also go on a seaweed safari.

Ice cream made with love
Sun, summer and homemade ice cream from Storhaven - your vacation is on! All ice cream is made from scratch with the island's seasonal berries and fruits, the best chocolate from Belgium and lots of flavors. In addition to ice cream, the farm shop also offers other specialties from local producers: juices, flour, jam, honey, mead and more.

100% naturally extracted salt from Læsø Saltsyderi
It's no wonder Læsø is known for its salt. The salt is extracted by evaporating the water from Rønnerne in large pans - using the same principle as almost 1,000 years ago. You can experience it all at Læsø Saltsyderi, where you can also get your hands on the tasty southern salt.
