GREEN KEY is the international environmental label for tourism awarded to tourism businesses that make an extra effort to protect the environment.

Green Key makes it easy for you to find and choose green hotels, hostels, holiday centers, and conference venues.

To achieve Green Key, a series of criteria must be met:

  • Mandatory criteria** that must be fulfilled before the award is granted.

  • Point criteria**, which provide 1 to 5 points depending on the weight of the criterion. All mandatory criteria and at least 40% of the relevant point criteria must be met at the time of the award.

A prerequisite is that the establishment complies with relevant and applicable environmental legislation, building regulations, wastewater regulations, etc.

Green Sport Facility

GREEN SPORT FACILITY is an environmental label for sports facilities such as sports halls, swimming pools, sports fields, ice rinks, and arenas.

The scheme is a sister initiative to Green Key, which is found in hotels, following the same principles, concepts, and control measures.

GREEN SPORT FACILITY rewards facilities that think sustainably and make an extra effort to care for the environment and the local area. This is achieved by taking action regarding their own facility and also by informing and encouraging users, associations, and partners to contribute to and support sustainable practices.

In this way, the Swan Ecolabel promotes a circular economy, efficient resource use, and biodiversity, while reducing climate impact and the use of harmful chemicals.
