Sustainability is a key focus in our part of North Jutland. Explore experiences, accommodation options, and activities where you can contribute to making a difference for the planet, the local community, and people's well-being and opportunities.

Make the responsible choice easier.

We have gathered some of the businesses that are committed to becoming more sustainable choices, including environmentally certified accommodations and restaurants that focus on organic and local ingredients. These businesses make it easier for you to make a conscious and responsible choice while on vacation.

Accessibility

Increased accessibility is part of North Jutland's strong focus on social sustainability. It means that all people, regardless of ability, should be able to move equally and independently in public spaces, including buildings, roads, and facilities. Here, we have compiled an overview where you can find information about improved access conditions in public places, businesses, and transportation.

Overview of Places with Special Accessibility

Aalborg Zoo - Orangutang

Aalborg Zoo was environmentally certified with ISO 14001:2015 in 1999, becoming the first zoo in the world to achieve this. This has led to an increased focus on the environment, with many years of efforts to limit and reduce negative environmental impacts and to work strategically with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

How do I know if a place has proper conditions?

As a guest, it's easy to see who has proper conditions. Look for the OK-forhold label the next time you go out. This way, you can be sure that the employees are not subjected to wage dumping and unfair competition, and that they have decent agreements, such as pension, vacation days, maternity pay, etc. You can find all the restaurants, bars, hotels, etc., that have OK-forhold here.

Here’s how we work on 'keeping our house in order.'

At Destination NORD, we have just launched a new sustainability strategy that is an integral part of our destination strategy. The sustainability strategy is crucial for our business strategy, as it ensures that we work towards sustainable and responsible goals that benefit not only the destination's businesses but also the environment and society as a whole.

Integrating sustainability into the business strategy ensures that we always consider both the short-term and long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts of our activities.
